Minutes of the BARC Executive Committee Meeting
December 3, 1997
Recorded by Paul Carter N1TMF, SPARC Editor
N1IST has changed the name of this meeting from the "BARC Executive
Committee Meeting" to make clear that others than the Executive
Committee are welcome to join.
Present were Mike Ardai, N1IST, President; Arthur Ashley, N1NHZ,
Membership Services; Paul Carter, N1TMF, SPARC Editor; Bob Cassell,
N1ENS, EC; Jim Clogher, N1ICN, Treasurer; Dick Doherty, KA1TUZ, VP;
Mike Kass, N1YER; Paul Katz, N1LRT; Ed Parish, K1EP; Bill Ricker,
N1VUX; Bob Salow, WA1IDA, Public Service; Ralph Walton, N1KOI;
The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:50 p.m.
- N1IST - The club server is partially up and working. An
experimental version of an on-line membership form is available at
http://www.barc.org/membership.html. Members should look at it
and give suggestions for improvement. We also need a Field Day
Coordinator - and a new President - for next year.
- N1LRT - No progress on a BARC table at First Night (Ed. He has
now arraigned it! See the article in the Dec. SPARC.) If we do get a
table, a large promotional banner to hang above would be nice.
- N1KOI - No further progress on starting a Technician class. We
might have one in Feb. or March. We need two months advance notice to
- N1VUX - BU and Northeastern radio clubs have restarted. EMA ARES
reorganization is in progress. Training will be sometime in early '98;
people are invited to teach what they know of emergency communication
- N1YER - is setting up an ARES affiliated emergency response team
for EMA. We need to affiliate with local public safety organizations
so we will have someone to respond to! There are several good leads.
- WA1IDA - So far in 1997, 48 members and 2 non-members made
financial contributions to BARC (Ed. One-third of the membership, not
too shabby!) The back of the 1998 Membership form will list some of
the BARC activities of last year.
- N1NHZ - The next Net 101 will be on Jan.19, on the .23 machine
after the BARC Net. On the BARC Net before each BARC Business Meeting,
people should announce upcoming topics to encourage members to
attend. Also interested in a club field trip to ARRL HQ and Lentini's
in March or April.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
